A ferry ride and hour drive took us to Dungeness Spit, a Nation Wildlife Refuge. We spent the day walking on the beach and enjoying the view. To the west of us were the Olympic Mountains, to the north were the Straits of Juan de Fuca, and to the east were the Cascade Mountains. Our location was just outside of Sequim (pronounced Sqwim)-the lavender capital of Washington.

A view from our post of the northern face of the Olympic mountains (snow!)

Our spot (we saw deer!)
